A born writer...

Nakisha Wilson has always enjoyed writing. Even as a young girl in second grade, the writing bug was wiggling into her mind and making itself comfortable there. While still in school in her hometown of Memphis, Tennessee, her writing skills placed her with a trophy in a talent show where she presented one of her stories (and no, this particular one has not been published!)
Since then, she has made her way in the world with other careers, including her current life as a nurse... but that writing bug never really left her. She is very proud to present her first published work to the world, The Adventures of Glow.

A Little about myself:

I grew up in a non-traditional household, splitting time between fighting parents.  I experienced things no child should have to go through, and created a toughness that was the foundation of the cast-iron man I am today.  Because of the separation of my parents, I became accustomed to adapting to new living situations because of having to split time between the two, therefore being forced to live in an ever-changing household.  This rocky beginning seemed to prepare me for the 10 years I would come to spend in the United States Marine Corps.

I proudly served in a time of peace, and also in a time of war.  During my time in the service, I had gone through experiences unimaginable to anyone who hasn’t taken a step in those shoes.  Life, death, suicides, marriages, divorces, anxieties and mental struggles surrounded our daily lives.  As a leader of Marines, I was humbled and honored to help so many through their turmoils, trials, and tribulations.  Also while serving, I started my path to obtain my Bachelors degree in Psychology, and because of my love of sports, I also took up coaching youth sports and seeking out adult leagues to play and coach in.  As life would have it, I was unable to continue my journey in the Marine Corps—and because of the separation from my Corps and a simultaneous divorce from my ex, I was forced to start over from scratch.

Perseverance drove me to become an even greater person than I once had been in the Corps, and I had to forcibly change my mental state and the frame of reference of which I saw the situations I found myself in—and this inevitably led me to a point where success in my life was the only option.  I’d secured a very well compensating job and rekindled with my best friend and soulmate whom which I then married, bought a house and then had my son with.  Despite these achievements, the void I had for helping people burned a hole in my soul and left me empty inside.

Being raised in a broken home, being forced to adapt to new situations because of moving between parents, growing up in youth and adult sports, overcoming addictions, living the military life—separating and having to start a completely different life over again (not to mention dealing with the adversities of being a minority in Los Angeles)… these were all a major part of molding me into the cast iron mentor I am today—having helped people literally across the globe.  With my background and my studies in Psychology, I then made the decision that I wanted to bring as many people with me on the road of success that I could.

My decision to provide a service as a non-traditional counselor turned into my decision to walk the road as a Mental Peak Performance Coach; and as a coach who strives to provide the best possible help, I understand that in order to help people in the best way possible, I would need to continue studying people and the mind in different modalities.  So I decided to study Hypnotherapy in order to deepen the tools I have to utilize with my clients, which then opened a door that led onto the road to my Doctorate in Sport Psychology—in which I now study to add yet another element of focus under my belt.

As a man of experience with life, death, love, hate, failure, success, perseverance, education, and drive—it is in my interest, and it’s my duty to help all those that are looking for something more… something better… something good in their lives.

A Book and a Chat 2016

Another year almost over, with my last show for until the New Year tonight with a brief look back over the year and look forward to next year. we went through the 1000 show mark early in 2016, in fact tonight's show is number 1096.

Along the way we have made some new friends and caught up with several old friends in chats which I hope you have enjoyed. Some medical things have meant a few shows having to be cancelled, but normally as they show the show must go on.

2017 is already looking to be a great one for guests with almost 8 months of the year already full (I have kept a few open spaced for some returning favorites).

Meanwhile I will say, Happy Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to all, not sure about that Quzimodo day or whatever it is...where did that come from??  And YES Happy Christmas, holidays are normally in the summer.. If people get upset, I could ask, that isn't celebrating 4th July the same for us Brits living in the USA..really.. 

I really don't care, for me it's Happy Christmas and Happy Hanukkah

Today's guest is Bonnie J. Doerr, nature lover and gardener, she grew up in western Maryland. Since leaving home, she has lived in eight of the United States. Degrees in reading education, combined with a brief post as a science teacher, led her to write ecological adventure/mysteries. Years of teaching and living in the Florida Keys provided irresistible material. 

Her books celebrate caring, involved, "green" teens who take action with attitude and a touch of romance. Her work has been honored by NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) with a grant for its use in environmental education and has been included in Milkweed Editions literary field guides. She now lives in a log cabin in North Carolina. Island Sting, was released in January 2010 by Leap Books,LLC and was EPIC's 2011 eBook Award winner for outstanding children's book. Stakeout, second in her ecological adventure/mystery series, was a 2011 summer release and one of six finalists for the 2012 YA Green Earth award. Tangled Lines, third in the series, was released August of 2016.

My guest Brian Meehl has come a long way since joining the cast of Sesame Street as Barkley, the big sheepdog, he was soon doing other Muppet characters: Telly, Grungetta, the first Elmo. (Brian claims to be Elmo’s “grandfather” because two puppeteers later Elmo finally met the hand that would make him a Super Monster.) As Barkley, Brian frolicked through China and Japan in specials with Big Bird. Work on several Jim Henson films included the chance to breathe his last as the Dying Master in The Dark Crystal. From that he went on to write for The Magic School Bus, Between the Lions, Cyberchase. Along the way he also wrote a few novels including Out of Patience and Suck it Up. His latest book is "BLOWBACK '07"
